"How to Sneak Into a Museum" Submission Deadline
APRIL 30th
HOW TO SNEAK INTO A MUSEUM
Artist Peter Coffin and the Suburban Gallery, Chicago are working on a forthcoming book project called: "How to Sneak into a Museum."
You are cordially invited to share with us, in the form of instructional drawings your method of how to sneak into an art museum without paying.
The best submissions for the book thus far include floor plan drawings that indicate where a person must go to enter the museum while avoiding to pay. The “instructions” should not require doctored documents such as fake passes, fake uniforms/badges, etc and should be relatively easy to understand so that one could sneak into the institution without paying using your instructions. The drawings should also indicate where one would ordinarily have to pay to enter and how to avoid this. Include street entrances, descriptive markers... anything to make the drawing effective and easy to use. We recommend looking at examples on this site: www.artfagcity.com/2009/07/23/sneak-into-a-museum-with-peter-coffin/
If you would like to submit a plan, please follow these instructions:
- HAND DRAW it on 8 1/2 x 11 white paper in black pen/or pencil
- Include the museum’s name + city on the drawing
- DO NOT WRITE YOUR NAME ON THE DRAWING
- Scan it on gray scale @ 300 DPI
- Name your digital file with your name + museum’s name (e.g.: GuerinMagalie_MoMA.jpg)
- Send to Magalie Guerin, magalieguerin@gmail.com at the Suburban.
We are hoping for a variety of content without repeated museums. Therefore, in the interest of the book, not all submitted drawings will be published. The names (or pseudonyms– your choice!) of the selected participants will be included in the credits of the book. All accepted participants will of course receive a copy of the book so please make sure to send your contact info/ mailing address with the file.
Feel free to forward this to any sneaky museum-going pals anywhere, especially outside the US as this is for any art museum across the globe.
